The beauty of Mexico is that you can do as much or as little as you like. Lounge at the pool, enjoy the beach or take a leisurely stroll around town. Each Thursday La Penita hosts a Flea Market, known locally as the Tianguis. The market is located in the Plaza of the town and extends several blocks south. Local artisans and merchants display their wares for sale which range from fresh produce to jewelry, pottery, linens, clothing and much, much more.

Explore one of the many beaches in the area. Most are just a short taxi or bus ride away. The beach at Sayulita is popular with surfers and wake boarders alike and is also a delightful town to visit for shopping, dining or just a day at the beach. Chacala is another wonderful beach. Just a few mile north of La Penita, it is situated in a small bay with many beach front restaurants. The calm waters of the bay are perfect for a refreshing swim in the warm Pacific waters.

Golf is another popular pastime for visitors to the area. The nearby town of El Monteon has a 9 hole, par 3 course at very affordable rates. The course is open 7 days a week and features Women's Day each Wednesday, Men's Day on Thursday and Sunday is a best ball tournament for both men and women. Or you can venture into Puerto Vallarta to one of the many fine courses there.

Some other activities you may wish to try are whale watching, fishing, sailing, surfing, horseback riding, ATV tours, and the Puerto Vallarta zip line through the jungle just to name a few.
